Casey’s interest in politics began with and grew over the course of a series of major events during the last decade.
One of the reasons he is so passionate about his beliefs is the NHS. Casey believes that the NHS is our most precious institution, he wants the NHS receive the resources it needs along with the effort and time that it so desperately requires to ramp up capacity and modernise. He is absolutely passionate about protecting the NHS and its staff who save lives every single day.
Casey wants people who feel left behind, ignored and without a voice to be heard and part of the conversation. He wants to hear from the quietest voice in the room, the voices often left feeling ignored or unheard. Politics is at its best when all voices are heard and everyone gets their say.
Casey had his first heart operation in 2013, The NHS was there for him when he needed it the most, and that why it is hugely important to him and central to his beliefs. From the Scottish referendum to the 2016 EU Referendum and four general elections over the decade, it was a decade to remember. People who were ignored for far too long by many, spoke out, made their voices heard and refused to be ignored.
Casey began studying Politics at A level in September 2016, a few months after the referendum & Theresa May becoming PM. What a time to be In the thick of it!
Shortly after the 2017 general election, he became a member of the Conservative & Unionist Party. Casey was inspired by the leadership & devotion to selfless public service demonstrated by Theresa May. He became a member after supporting the party for years and watching the then Prime Minister devote herself to public service, putting the country first.
Casey wants to see a new kind of politics. A politics where the voices of everyone matter equally, where abuse and hate have no place, the ladder is held down for the next generation and the quietest voices matter.
Five years on from his first, Casey had his second operation in 2018. That's part of what inspires him to keep fighting for his values, he wants to ensure that the NHS receives the funding and time it deserves to improve and modernise.
After a gap year, in September 2019 Casey began studying Politics and International Relations in his home town university, he was then elected as a course representative and re-elected in 2020.
In April 2020, Casey was elected as the 2020/2021 treasurer for Reading University Politics & IR society. Subsequently in February 2021 he was elected as the Senior Representative for the School of Politics, Economics and International Relations at the University of Reading 2021/2022.
Casey was selected as the Conservative candidate for Tilehurst at the Local Elections 2022, in Reading. He thinks that its time residents got a better deal from their council. He's continuing to fight for Tilehurst and Reading so that Reading has a real opposition and a council that delivers for each and every person.
In 2022 Casey graduated from his hometown university, completing his degree in Politics & International Relations. He was re-selected as the Conservative candidate for Tilehurst for the 2023 Local Elections.
Casey consistently holds those elected to account, believing good governance is only possible when power faces strong challenges. He‘s been holding Reading Council accountable for its failures, including the traffic chaos under its watch. He stood as the Conservative candidate for Coley in the Local Elections in 2024.
And to now, Casey regularly appears in media, commenting on the local and national political developments of the day.
